14 DAY TRIAL // A man killing a TSA officer and wounding two other TSA staff members at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday has been linked to the Patriot movement.
The Southern Poverty Law Center writes that the handwritten one-page “manifesto” carried by Paul Anthony Ciancia in his bag mentions the “New World Order,” the Federal Reserve and “fiat currency.”
The anti-governmental literature mentions former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano. The note contains coarse language and insults addressed at Napolitano.
Within the Patriot movement, the rise of the “New World Order” is a major concern. The conspiracy warns about a coalition between major economic powers in the world taking over and inflicting on the freedoms of the US population.
The creation of this conspiracy is connected to the formation of the Federal Reserve. At that point, “fiat currency” was adopted. It is also referenced by Ciancia. This form of currency is not backed by gold, as its predecessors were.
The DHS is seen as an enemy because it screens extremists and sends their profiles over to other intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
