The fashion world was taken by surprise by the untimely and tragic death of designer L'Wren Scott, who was seen as an elegant figure in the industry, made even more famous by her ties with Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger.

Yesterday, the entire world found out that the long-legged, elegant Scott had committed suicide by hanging herself, revealing that underneath that lovely exterior there were many dark secrets hiding and just aching to surface.

The Daily Mail is saying that Scott resorted to self-harm just weeks before her death: “L’Wren was really quite troubled and there were some issues over Mick and her standing in the family. It seems she suffered from depression,” a source close to Mick Jagger reveals.

One of the reasons her depression had deepened during her last days seems to be the fact that Jagger was prolonging their relationship but didn't have any marriage plans in his future. Considering his wild lifestyle, it's easy to imagine that she felt the rocker would never be convinced to settle down.

L'Wren and Mick had been in a relationship for 12 years, which is plenty of time to get to know someone and make up your mind if you want to marry them, but it seems that nuptials were never in the cards for these two.

Another possible reason for her suicide is believed to be the fact that her fashion company had amassed some serious debt in the last year. According to legal documents, her company, LS Fashion LTD, had an outstanding debt for the year 2013, close to the six-million mark.

Alarm bells should have rung when Scott refused to join the Stones on the Australian leg of their tour, after being a constant presence at all their gigs in the last years. She played an active role in the band's performances, designing the stage outfits that Mick wore in the last two years.

The source close to the Stones claims that “She just wasn’t well enough to go on tour with them.” The financial pressure seems to have caught up with her as in January she inexplicably canceled her show at the London Fashion Week, claiming that the fabrics had arrived too late to be sewn in time.

In an earlier interview she pointed out that she was a little over her head in the fashion business. “Every cheque, every penny, I have to be responsible for because it’s my own money,” Scott said. Ultimately, we will never know for sure what drove her to this sudden end.
