L.A. Noire, the detective-powered action adventure title that is set to be launched on May 17 on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, might get significant post launch downloadable content, focused on introducing new cases and new police roles for the player to experience.

Speaking to 1UP, Brendan McNamara, who is the founder of Team Bondi and one of the main executives working on L.A. Noire, has said, “as I said earlier, we've got two full desks - burglary and bunko - that never made it into the game, so we've been thinking those and whether we'll do them.”

A police desk represents a number of cases, often linked together, that the player will need to solve in L.A. Noire, which means that those who pick up the game and finish it could be getting new challenges to overcome through police skills via downloadable content.

McNamara has added, “We're actually working on a new project idea now, so we're kicking that around as well.”

It's not clear whether this means that Team Bondi is developing a new longer experience based in the same universe, ready to be delivered as an expansion for L.A. Noire or as a stand alone product linked to the series, or whether the team is working on a whole new game.

Team Bondi has been working on L.A. Noire for quite some time now, so it makes little sense for them to ditch the intellectual property after just one game based on it.

This probably means that the developers are working with Rockstar to expand the scope of the franchise, possibly preparing to tackle another video game genre while using the same setting.

L.A. Noire is powered by some impressive new technology, which promises players a more real experience than ever before, with important gameplay mechanics linked to reading body language and interpreting the feelings of other characters.
