Kyte, the 360° video platform, recently announced that it planned on extending the support it offered for Google's Android mobile operating system. According to the company, it plans on offering media companies and marketers additional options when it comes to providing Kyte-powered video experiences to handsets running under the Android platform. At the same time, the company aims at strengthening its position as the leading video platform for online, mobile and connected device OSes, and the launch of its Kyte Android SDK and of a Kyte Android App Framework are steps taken into this direction.

“Introduced into the handset market less than two years ago, Android devices outsold iPhones for the first time this quarter, moving into the number two spot of most popular smartphone operating systems in the U.S. and continuing to demonstrate impressive growth in terms of adoption and functionality,” Daniel Graf, CEO, Kyte, commented on the launch.

The Kyte Android SDK is meant to offer developers the possibility to include customized Kyte-powered video into their Android applications. Moreover, organizations can focus on delivering enhanced user experiences without having to worry about media optimization or complex communication protocols. As for the Kyte Android Application Framework, it is aimed at offering solutions for the fast building of native Android apps that are based on a set of pre-built functional modules core in the Kyte Platform.

Kyte provides publishers with the flexibility to incorporate Kyte functionality in their solutions through the SDK and framework, so as to build apps faster. Kyte is set to become the 360° platform of choice for companies that aim at reaching consumers with live and on-demand video on multiple devices, including mobile, social and emerging ones.

“At a time when increasingly fragmented audiences are viewing video content on multiple devices, organizations need an easy and flexible way to distribute video across multiple screens and operating systems. Our 360° video platform makes it easier than ever for companies to support Android, in addition to our existing native support for iPhone/iPad, Blackberry and Nokia devices,” Graf concluded.
