The new Kyocera KX21 Strobe features a full QWERTY keyboard

Kyocera Wireless, one of the leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, announced the new Strobe wireless handset at the Consumer Electronics Show 2006, in Las Vegas. The Kyocera KX21 Strobe features a stylish candy-bar design that opens lengthwise to reveal a second color display and full QWERTY keyboard inside, making it ideal for text messaging, email and instant messaging (IM).

"Kyocera is all about simplifying the user experience and when it comes to texting and instant messaging, that's exactly what we've done. Strobe is stylish and functional and we're confident it will be the hands-down best value in its class when it hits the market," said Jim Kelly, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Kyocera Wireless.

The Kyocera KX21 is an AMPS 800Mhz and CDMA 800/1900Mhz handset with a simple VGA camera with flash, dedicated camera button and digital zoom. It features multimedia messaging service (MMS), WAP 2.0 browser, built-in polyphonic ring tones, screen savers and caller alerts, a contact directory and voice dialing. Productivity tools include scheduler, calculator, alarm clock, stopwatch, calculator, countdown timer and voice memos. The Kyocera Strobe measures 108 mm x 52 mm x 24 mm and weighs 115 grams. The phone will reach the retail market in Q2 2006 for CDMA market.
