THQ: 'open-world levels demanded a complex and accurate 3D pathfinding solution'

Fans of the Destroy All Humans series have a reason to smile today. No, the game hasn't been released, BUT, since both installments we've already played feature immense open environments, Kynogon thought their Kynapse would work perfect with Destroy All Humans 3. The latest iteration in the series is next-gen-only material, so Kynogon should deliver some stunning visuals.

"Seeing Kynapse in action made our decision very easy," said David Bollesen, General Manager at THQ studio Sandblast Games. "The scale of our open-world levels demanded a complex and accurate 3D pathfinding solution. Kynogon's toolset easily delivered on this challenge with impressive performance, efficiency, and easy integration into our game engine. We appreciate Kynogon's continued support and commitment to help our team deliver the best game possible."

Since we can't see a version of the game without being touched by Kynogon's toolset, we won't be able to make the difference, but we can assume that the AI of the 'humans' (oh, the irony...!) will be drastically improved with this pathfinding solution. Pierre Pontevia, CEO of Kynogon, added: "It is always very rewarding to collaborate with leading game developers such as Sandblast Games on the development of original console games. Our team at Kynogon is very proud to see Kynapse in Destroy All Humans 3!"

Now, for those looking to pick up on the series starting with this installment, in all Destroy All Humans games players assume the role of the Furon Scout - Crypto 137, embark on missions to Earth, in order to take over the world as we knew it in the 60's. For example, in Destroy All Humans 2 players had access to an upgraded arsenal of weapons and enhanced mental abilities while they battled a variety of new enemies from secret agents and giant creatures to Soviet Forces and ninja warriors.

The same game also featured a nifty co-op multiplayer mode, enabling one to team up with another player and of course "destroy all humans" together via split-screen, playing through the entire single player game together or replay missions already completed. Special two-player mini-games such as PK Tennis, were also available.

Details on Destroy All Humans 3 are scarce, but we're trusting THQ to keep us updated as soon as there is more progress on the upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 action game.
