Seven years after she originally signed with Jenny Craig and managed to lose all the extra weight (and then some), actress Kirstie Alley went back on the weight loss program again in 2014, with the self-imposed goal of losing 30 pounds (13.6 kg).

The announcement came in April, with the first ad, in which Kirstie said she wasn’t “circus fat” yet but had decided she didn’t want to go there again. Endorsing the program again came after a futile attempt at losing the weight on her own program, Organic Liaison, which turned out to be more or less a fraud.

Jenny has positive results

Since then, not much has been heard of Kirstie. A short while ago, she was photographed at the airport (see the pic attached to this article), apparently looking skinnier than she had in years, but she refused to talk to the paparazzi about her progress.

She’s doing it now, telling People magazine that Jenny has helped her attain that weight loss goal, and more: she’s already dropped 50 pounds (22.6 kg) and the best part is that she did it whilst having a lot of fun, so it did not feel like a chore at all.

Her focus right now is on maintaining the weight loss – and it’s a good thing she’s making it her priority since she has a long history of yo-yo-ing weight.

Keeping active is key, the 63-year-old actress says, so she devised a plan where she incorporates more physical exercise into her daily routine without feeling like she’s straining herself.

Maintaining the weight loss

For instance, she tells People, these days, she’s more likely to invite a friend to dinner, on the condition that they ride a bike to the restaurant and that she picks up the bill. Doing this, Alley says, has made her more aware of the amount of calories burned with one activity and the amount ingested with each item, so she’s disinclined to overeat having broken a sweat to bike to the locale.

“There's this certain place I hit where I felt really energetic and agile. I was like, I want to keep going with this! I thought, how am I going to solve the problem of hitting a goal and having enough fun to keep that going?” she says.

Having a personal weight loss coach also helps, of course. Alley recalls her years as a competitive swimmer and how she only recorded progress when she was pushed to the extreme, so she likes to see herself on this diet as an “athlete” who is always struggling to give her best.

Still, she also wants to have fun with it “this time,” she adds. So in between her bikes with friends out on the town, she makes sure she “spices up” her Jenny meals with lots of fruit and vegetables (organic, of course) and low-calorie desserts.

This time, the weight loss will be permanent, Kirstie is convinced.
