14 DAY TRIAL // Kristen Stewart and Alicia Cargile, rumored to be dating since April 2014, are officially a couple. Kristen’s mother, Jules Stewart, is confirming it in a new interview with the Mirror, in which she also gushes about what a lovely girl Alicia is and how happy she makes Kristen.
The two have made no secret to hide the fact that they were more than friends in recent weeks, even being photographed holding hands and kissing. However, this is the first time that the relationship is confirmed in an interview.
“I accept my daughter loves women and men”
Kristen and Alicia became closer after Kristen’s relationship with Robert Pattinson, whom she met and fell in love with on the set of the first installment in “The Twilight Saga,” fell apart. The breakup was Kristen’s doing, as she was caught kissing then-married director Rupert Sanders in a parking lot, and was exposed in the media for a cheat.
Still, she was heartbroken over the split and turned to her best friend for the proverbial shoulder to cry on. They became inseparable, and in almost no time, the relationship evolved from one of friendship to something more.
Jules says she’s ok with her daughter’s choices as long as she’s happy. And happy she is! Alicia is “a lovely girl,” Jules says after meeting her.
“I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men. It’s OK to be who you are in my world,” she adds. “We all choose our friends so we should be free to choose our lovers. People are good to do whatever they like as long as they’re not hurting people or breaking the law. I have gay friends, family members, I’m accepting of people, we are all free to choose who we want to love.”
She’s sorry things with Robert didn’t work out, but things happen for a reason, she muses. Maybe both Kristen and Robert were too young to settle down, as the entire “Twilight” fandom would have wanted them to.
Maybe they didn’t get the chance to be the couple they could be precisely because the fandom and the media were watching them like hawks, analyzing their every move and dissecting it on public forums.
Kristen moves on with Alicia and martial arts
Alicia was there for Kristen when almost no one else was, so no wonder they got close. They love each other and they’re happy, so Jules sees no reason to object or be upset in any way by the relationship.
Another thing that helped Kristen move on from Robert and close that chapter in her life was martial arts, her mother reveals in the same interview. She had some trouble with her feelings, but she’s learned to control them in the gym.
