You might have been swooning over their on-screen romance, but Kristen and Robert were laughing all the way to the bank. It's been revealed that they were both paid considerable bonuses to reprise their roles in the young adult vampire saga.

TMZ claims that Robert and Kristen were paid an extra $2.5 million (€1.8 million) for the movies according to the lawsuit files with the Los Angeles Superior Court by the finance company Goldcrest Film Distribution against the film studio Summit Entertainment.

Goldcrest is seeking to recover “several million dollars in payments” and it's pointing a finger at the studio, claiming that it understated film revenues and overstated costs. In the documents there are some tasty revelations about just how much money the actors pocketed for the films.

It turns out that Robert received $300,000 (€217,317) for the first “Twilight” film after the movie did so well at the box office. But that wasn't enough. The documents go on to show that for the second film, both Robert and Kristen negotiated to be paid a bonus of $2.5 million (€1.8 million) for each of them.

Goldcrest is claiming that some of that money being given to the actors was taken out of its paycheck and now wants it back.

There is no doubt that the vampire saga was successful, since the franchise was the most profitable, earning several billion dollars in revenue. So if there is any problem with money, Goldcrest thinks it is Summit that is failing to cooperate and even prevented a full audit.

The information about Kristen and Robert comes days after they were rumored to have rekindled their relationship that they started on the set of the movies, much to the delight of the fans. While the reconciliation has yet to be confirmed, it's interesting to see that both actors received significant bonuses for their roles.

That would explain why they made a return for the second and third movies, despite the fact that they both later claimed they were not the biggest fans of the books and the movie adaptations. It also explains why both actors are now considering dropping out of public life, as they have the financial means to carry on without working, at least for some time.

Pattinson continues to act, with his latest project having just wrapped up. It's called “Life” and in it he plays the role of photographer Dennis Stock. Meanwhile, Kristen has taken a more fashionable turn in her career, becoming the face of Chanel and also promoting fragrances for Balenciaga.
