Star rejoices on Twitter, cracks joke, gets answer in the positive from Dax

Only some hours ago, the US Supreme Court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA, for short) was unconstitutional, which means that thousands of gay couples in the US must be getting ready to walk down the aisle now.

Among them, fans might also find a hetero one, made of comedy actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.

They are, as must already be common knowledge, two of the most vocal supporters of gay marriage, even saying they refused to tie the knot unless everyone else could do the same legally.

Minutes after DOMA was ruled unconstitutional, new mom Kristen was rejoicing on Twitter.

“You're damn right DOMA is unconstitutional!! #equalitymatters,” she wrote.

And then, surprising everyone, she proposed to Dax.

“@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove,” she wrote.

He responded with, “DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead. Now let's bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!!”

This is probably a “yes,” we’d say.

As noted above, in recent interviews, Kristen and Dax stressed that they had made a choice not to get married until equality was no longer a dream.

Today, that dream has come true.

“The reason we're not rushing to get married is because I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends,” she said some time ago.

Dax and Kristen aren’t the only stars to stand up for marriage equality. Perhaps even more famous for this public stance are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who repeatedly said they would only marry when gays could do the same.

Because of this, they were faced with some backlash when they confirmed they’d gotten engaged, but they made sure their fans and the media knew immediately that getting engaged did not mean they would marry before gay marriage was legal.

Now that it is, expect more wedding Brangelina rumors to take over the tabs.
