Kris Humphries does first interview since divorce, refuses to speak about Kim Kardashian

Weeks after the shocking announcement from Kim Kardashian that she had decided to end her marriage to Kris Humphries with a divorce after just 72 days, he's speaking out. His first interview, on Good Morning America, is below.

Since the announcement was made, there was a lot of speculation about whether the marriage wasn't a PR stunt from the first, meant to boost the careers of both.

While the Kardashian family has been working overtime to keep said reports under control, Kris has been keeping unusually mum, even as his public image took a hit with the backlash.

By the looks of his first interview, on GMA, he doesn't plan to open up on the topic of the divorce any time soon.

For the entire duration of the interview, both Kris and his mom went to almost painful lengths to avoid all Kardashian-related questions by basically offering the same answer to all of them: “basketball, family and charitable foundation.”

The result is an awkward grilling from GMA host Josh Elliot and even more awkward answers from Kris, as you can see from the video embedded at the end of the article.

For instance, asked whether he still loves Kim, he says, “I’m focused on just what I can control, which is being ready to play ball and supporting my mom and her cookie baking.”

“I don’t really play into all the gossip and things that take place, but that’s life. I’ve been doing a lot of things with my foundation and spending time with my family and working on my game. Hopefully I’ll be on a team soon and get ready to go,” Humphries adds.

Divorce is also something he doesn't want to speak about.

“For me, it’s just certain things happen in life and you’ve got to move forward. Through everything I’m just focused on family and preparing for basketball. Basketball has always been something I’ve taken really serious and I continue to do that and I’m just moving forward,” Kris says.

He also refuses to say whether he thinks being on camera (for Kim's reality show) was the final nail in the coffin of his marriage.

“I can’t say for sure or not for sure. It’s the only time I’ve been married. I’ve been in the NBA since I was 19 years old, but it’s a different level,” he explains.

In other words, throughout the entire interview, Kris tries with almost visible desperation to remind the world that he's not famous for being Kim Kardashian's husband but for being a basketball player – one that, as it happens, is currently looking for a job.
