Koss' New Mechanized Earbuds Fit Perfectly in the Biggest of Ears

Days ago we here were wondering how many people were truly 100% satisfied with the way their in-ear headphones fitted inside their ear canals, and as far as we've seen, it looked like there were rather few individuals who could say “I'm 100% satisfied with my in-ears.” Just when we were on the brink of admitting that “life isn't totally fair with everyone,” we learned about the newest contraption from Koss Stereophones – some new model of headphones called CC_01 sporting a revolutionary method to fit snugly in one's ear.

The idea behind Koss' new headphones has been derived from the simple observation that a variable-shape ear bud would fit in better than any of the usual 3 size sleeves each decent manufacturer might include in the box.

Thus, instead of trying to please everyone with three sets of silicon rubber sleeves, one has to try and see which one is the best. Koss has come up with special earbuds with variable architecture, letting the individuals choose the size that suits them best and offers the greatest degree of comfort. These headphones come with a miniaturized system, comprising some claw-like elements connected to a dial: twisting the dial in one direction permits the “claws” to come closer to each other, allowing the foam to compress more and thus make the headphones easier to slip inside tiny ears.

Twisting the said dial in the opposite direction will make these “claws” expand, and thus causing the rubber sleeve to spread out beyond its normal dimension and fit better inside a large ear canal. Unlike earbuds with pre-defined shapes and dimensions, the Koss CC_01 are offering users the possibility to accurately control the way headphones look and even feel.

While being a first in the industry, the Koss CC_01 adjustable-size headphones are expected in major stores starting this March, for around $150.
