Will help NVIDIA's Fermi GTX 470 and GTX 480 cool off

In addition to reclaiming NVIDIA's crown as owner of the world's fastest graphics adapter on the market, the GeForce GTX 480 and, to a lesser extent, the GTX 470 may also have a more unusual side-effect, namely that of propelling the VGA water-cooling industry. The two DirectX 11 graphics adapters each have operating temperatures so high that, while not really a threat to the system, are still a strong-enough reason for end-users to consider installing a waterblock. Being well aware of this fact, Koolance has eagerly listed its specially designed VID-NX470 and VID-NX480.

Koolance is definitely not the first company to reveal GTX 400 water-cooling solutions, seeing how EVGA, CoolIT and Danger Den have already turned heads with their own. What can be said, however, is that it is the first one to actually list them, even though the video cards they are meant for haven't even started selling.

The VID-NX470, as its name implies, is meant for the GTX 470 and covers all the heat-generating regions of the adapter, including even the voltage regulators. It is built mainly out of copper, but it uses nickel plating and a microfin design (0.5mm fins). Furthermore, the acrylic lid is covered with a stainless-steel plate. The entire product weighs 680 grams, measures 5.9 x 14.6 x 1.6 cm, comes with G1/4-inch fittings and can be used in both single-GPU as well as multi-GPU SLI setups.

The second waterblock, the VID-NX480, is obviously intended for the more powerful GeForce GTX 480. Its shape is somewhat different from that of its sibling, but the item's overall construction is still similar, being made out of the same nickel-plated copper. Unlike the VID-NX470, however, this model also boasts a blue LED, to add style to the card.

The VID-NX470 and VID-NX480 can be found on the company's official website, priced at $109.99 and $119.99, respectively.
