Konami has announced, at the E3 trade conference, that it plans to create and launch another Silent Hill title in 2011. The game does not have an official title at the moment but the publisher is saying it will be arriving on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

The new game promises to deliver the same horror-oriented action adventure as other iterations in the series, the focus being on developing the strange world of the Silent Hill universe and the deepest fears of the main characters.

The story of the fresh Silent Hill videogame will be centered on a prison inmate by the name of Murphy Pendleton, who is on board of a special transport when it gets off the road and crashes. Pendleton is initially relieved to be free but quickly discovers that the town where he finds himself is more than it seems, with horrific creatures running around and his deepest fears coming to light.

The gameplay will again be built around using the objects in the environment in order to fight back against enemies and complete puzzles. The developers are promising “a dark, thought-provoking storyline which will appeal to fans of the early, classic Silent Hill series.” Konami is also saying that the main storyline will be complemented with side quests that will vary depending on how the gamer handles the game.

Martin Schneider, who is the marketing and public relations director for the European branch of Konami Digital Entertainment, stated, “We are honoring the rich history and strong following of Silent Hill, and working hard to build another unforgettable horror game that the fans truly deserve. Silent Hill introduces an all-new storyline and unique evolutions in gameplay, building on innovations and successes from over a decade of true survival horror and terror.”
