Konami is preparing to launch its Pro Evolution Soccer series onto the Nintendo 3DS, complete with 3D support, but the Japanese company also hints at the possibility of such a version coming to regular home consoles.

The Nintendo 3DS will see many impressive franchises get the 3D treatment, including Capcom's Resident Evil or Street Fighter, EA's The Sims or Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) series.

When talking about the 3D version of PES, dubbed Winning Eleven in its native Japan, producer Naoya Hatsumi didn't rule out the feature for regular, full pledged titles in the franchise.

"This [3D] is definitely something that I would like to do on other consoles," revealed Hatsumi to CVG. "But I must say I think that one of the strong points of the Nintendo 3DS compared to the others is the small display."

"It's almost like looking at a miniature garden - your little miniature world, and it's in 3D. This is a very special aspect of it. I would probably think about how to represent the game differently on a different console," he added.

If Konami wants to implement such a technology, then it would certainly find support with fellow Japanese company Sony, who is backing up any 3D game project for its PlayStation 3, proclaiming last year that over 50 titles are currently in development that support the 3D tech.

Meanwhile, Konami will be supporting the 3DS with the aforementioned PES 3D title, as well as other 3D versions of older games like Contra, Frogger or Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

The Nintendo 3DS is drawing in third-party publishers due to the fact that it doesn't require special glasses to enjoy the 3D effect, as opposed to current technology in 3DTV sets, which, besides the fact that they cost a lot of money, also require you to wear clunky glasses.
