Ever since the PlayStation 3 was launched, one game has been the most expected title for this console: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The next title in the tactical espionage series has been eagerly awaited by every Sony fan out there. It was definitely a reason to be happy that the big investment in the PS3 was worth it and a great gaming experience would soon reward their effort. The game received very good reviews and was a best seller but rumors were quick to arise that it might be ported for the Xbox 360.

Although Konami, the developer and publisher of the game, completely denied the idea of a version for Microsoft's console, stating that it was made exclusively for the PS3, the rumors still didn't disappear. As the Tokyo Game Show closed, Konami’s spokesperson, Yoshitaka Arai, revealed to Japanese industry magazine Morning Star that plans for an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 are being studied by the development team at the moment.

“The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to.”

It would definitely make a lot of sense; many developers and publishers are now going multi platform with their titles in order to make a bigger profit. With the big sales of the Xbox 360 in the United States and Europe, and now even in Japan, it looks better and better in the eyes of Japanese game developers.

The news would surely bring an even larger smile on the faces of Microsoft’s executives as they have already taken away from Sony several PS3 exclusive titles like Grand Theft Auto IV or the upcoming Tekken 6 fighting game.

Still, this is just a rumor and we have to wait until Konami officially announces the development of this version. But one thing's for sure, if Konami wants to make even larger profit from MGS4, they should definitely start working on the Xbox 360 version.
