More fitness on the Wii

Konami Digital Entertainment has sent word that it plans to publish a new Nintendo Wii title called Walk It Out, which is set to offer a new twist on the fitness genre. Unlike Wii Fit from Nintendo or EA Sports Active from Electronic Arts, which are focused on offering yoga exercises or more hardcore strength training segments, Walk It Out aims to improve the fitness of those who play it only through walking.

The videogame should offer a detailed virtual world that is set to evolve as the avatar representing the player who walks on screen. A variety of buildings, like windmills, lighthouses and even some pretty impressive skyscrapers, will appear in front of the player and force them to alter their rhythm as they step over them.

Walk It Out is set to use a variety of peripherals. The game offers standard support for the Wiimote and the Nunchuk but players who have the Balance Board can also connect it to the game and there's even an option to connect the Konami-made dance mat from Dance Dance Revolution to play Walk It Out.

Konami is promising that about 120 tracks will be delivered with the game so that there's always new music to step around to and some of the songs included will be “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas, “La La Land” from Demi Lovato and Jesse McCartney's “How Do You Sleep?” A full track list could be delivered closer to the release date. The developer will probably also reveal more activities for Walk It Out as simply stepping might prove boring rather quickly.

The company is not facing its first fitness release. It has also launched Let's Pilates and Let's Yoga on the Nintendo DS and put out Aerobics Revolution for the PlayStation 3.
