Fans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise might have been disappointed to see the new direction for Rising, unveiled as part of the new trailer that was shown at the VGA show, but the main developer behind the franchise, Hideo Kojima, assures them that a stealth focused game designed specifically for them will be announced in the near future.

As part of a Twitter exchange the veteran developer and Kojima Productions leader said, “Had same kind of questions @today's conf. Our ex-RISING also were aiming at feel good action w/ protagonist, Raiden as a Spin-off, not MGS & such concept was shared w/ New RISING by P*”

He added, “For those of you desire for authentic stealth MGS, I want you to patiently wait for the sequel coming in future.”

Metal Gear: Rising, which now bears the subtitle Revengeance, is being developed by Platinum Games and the Kojima team is just supervising the process, which means that the core gameplay will be shaped by the same people who created Bayonetta and MadWorld for the Nintendo Wii.

The change in direction for Rising is clear from the fact that the Solid element has been dropped from the official titles.

The trailer shown for the game focuses on main character Raiden as he slashes his way through a number of enemies, with the action elements clearly dominating any exploration or stealth.

It’s not clear whether the mechanic of taking parts from defeated enemies in order to improve Raiden’s abilities, which was previously shown by Kojima, is kept by the new development team.

Kojima spoke to the Official PlayStation Magazine earlier during the year and suggested that he is thinking about creating a full Metal Gear Solid sequel.

Metal Gear Rising will be launched on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 during the second half of 2012 and the stealth Kojima announcement might come after that.
