Ex Rutgers coach should have never been physically abusive to his players

Kobe Bryant sat down for an interview with Jim Rome and, among other things, he also talked about how former Rutgers coach Mike Rice would be physically abusive to his players.

Above is a video including footage that eventually got him fired, showing him heaving balls at players and kicking them in the legs.

Below is the clip with Bryan’t statement. He says he would have fought back, had he been in those boys’ place.

“I woulda smacked the hell out of him. No question about it,” he says. He adds that he never took this kind of abuse from Shaquille O’Neal so he would have definitely not stood for it with a coach.

The only person who was ever allowed to hit him, he admits towards the end of the video, was his mom – with a belt.

The interview airs on Showtime.
