Lionhead has revealed that December 22 is the official release date for the Knothole Island downloadable content which was announced for Fable 2. Initially, Xbox.com mentioned that the official release date was December 12, which led some gamers to be pretty excited that they would see the new island today. The bad news is that it’s not coming today; the good news is that Lionhead is planning to offer the gamers who liked Fable 2 some pretty interesting additions.

The DLC will cost gamers getting it from Xbox Live 800 Microsoft Points, which is basically 9.99 dollars. It is supposed to add a new area players can explore, an island containing, as the developers put it, quests that require some tricky decisions. Lionhead might offer new DLC if this first offering is successful.

For the people who are not interested in getting Knothole Island, Lionhead will release, on the same day, a patch addressing cooperative gameplay and allowing gamers to play alongside those who do not have it. The bad news is that all the content will be off limits to both players if one of them has not bought it. There will be no free exploration of Knothole without some money going to Lionhead and to Microsoft.

Lionhead is also getting some Christmas spirit going, as it plans to offer those acquiring the Knothole Island DLC or the accompanying patch something free. Players can get Knight’s Boots, Assassin’s Gloves, a Weight Loss potion for those concerned about their figure or a collectible book.

Fable 2 was one of the most pleasant surprises of the holiday season, delivering on all the promises Peter Molyneux made regarding the game. The world of Albion seems organic and real, while the combat and magic systems work perfectly.
