Endorsing a weight-loss product is not uncommon with celebrities, since it’s a collaboration from which both parties stand to profit greatly. For actress Kirstie Alley, though, one such partnership might have cost her more dearly than she initially believed, since she gained more weight after putting an end to it than she lost while on a diet. Now, the star is ready to face up to her “food demons” and get back in shape again, as she tells People magazine in a new interview.

Alley has often been ridiculed in the media for her yo-yoing weight, and this is something that she’s fully aware of. Equally aware she is of the fact that losing and then gaining so many pounds over a relatively short period of time is anything but healthy for her, which is why she’s now determined to put an end to this never-ending circle and get back in the saddle. What this means is that, although no longer working with Jenny Craig, she’s set to lose weight no matter what it takes – that is, by means of dieting and exercise.

“I have to be below 140 to really look good.” Alley tells the mag – she’s 228 pounds now, the heaviest she’s ever been. “I have to work my legs like crazy. Actually, do you want my real goal? My real goal’s always too low. I love the way I look at, like, 128. One time on ‘Cheers,’ I weighed about 148 lbs., and they told me to lose, like, 20 lbs. Now, I’m 5’8”, so at 148 lbs., I wasn’t fat. But they’re saying, ‘You know, you need to lose 20 lbs.’ So what does that put me at? 128. That’s where I keep getting this number.” the actress explains.

To achieve this goal, Alley has already enlisted the services of a personal trainer and has banished her biggest food demons from her diet: Chinese, pasta and butter. “I’m ready to work. I messed up along the way, but I’m not going to concentrate on that. I’m gonna go, ‘You know what? Get back on the horse, lose the freakin’ weight, and then just move forward!’” the star says for the same mag.

For all that matters, even if Alley doesn’t drop down to the weight she wants, at least she’ll be making a positive change in her life, she explains. Having gotten to 228 pounds by simply pigging out, letting everything go and shutting the entire world out starting with November last year, the actress has come to the conclusion that this is a lifestyle she no longer wants – so expect more details on her weight loss in the coming months.
