“Wanted,” starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy, though panned by critics, turned out to be a success at the box-office. People were barely surprised then when word got out that a sequel was in the making: but it did come as a shock hearing that Angelina Jolie no longer wanted to be a part of it. Luckily, the movie studio has already found a suitable replacement, E! News informs.

And it’s none other than “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart. While Jolie has told studio bosses that her schedule might not allow her to do the sequel as initially planned and that she was considering pulling out altogether, they were hard at work coming up with someone who could fill her shoes. They decided on Stewart, who will play a younger but equally deadly assassin. Should she take on Jolie’s role, “Wanted 2” will be a prequel.

“Kristen Stewart is a Wanted woman! Sources tell E! News that the studio and director behind the sequel to Wanted have expressed interest in snagging K.Stew to follow in Angelina Jolie’s footsteps as the female lead, starring alongside James McAvoy. While details are still pretty scarce, Stewart’s character would be a young assassin in the Fraternity. So is Stewart in, and Angie out? It’s too early to tell if the film is even gonna happen, but it’s not looking good for A,” E! writes.

“Our insider says Kristen was approached to fill Jolie’s hot-woman void in the franchise and met at least once with Timur Bekmambetov, the director of the series. However, Angelina’s participation in the project is still up in the air. While her character died in the first installment of the film, Bekmambetov told MTV that he would bring her back in some capacity, in the sequel. Only problem is A.J. reportedly backed out of the film. We hear details (aka money and exactly how much time she’d need to give to the flick) were never worked out, which is why Angelina is out, for now – but she could possibly make a cameo if the film actually happens,” the same publication further writes.

If Jolie decided to pull out of the film altogether (though she was saying just recently that she loved doing action movies because she knew her kids loved them too), then Kristen could be the one on which the studio pins hopes of saving the franchise. “Wanted” has great potential of spanning a few successful sequels, it is being said, but it will take a lot of effort to get audiences interested in it if Jolie is gone. Kristen could be the ideal candidate for that, they say.
