Although Intel's Sandy Bridge architecture was just released at the beginning of the week, Kingston is quick to announce that their 2133MHz HyperX memory series has achieved Intel XMP certification for the P67 Sandy Bridge platform, becoming the first company to get such certification for a 8GB memory kit.

Made up of four memory modules, the KHX2133C9AD3T1FK4/8GX kit is clocked at 2133MHz and operates at 1.65V, timings being set at CL9.

Like a few other Kingstom memory kits, these are shipped together with the company's HyperX fan and feature the series distinctive oversized blue heatspreader that should deliver better heat dispersion efficiency.

Prior to submit these memory modules to Intel for XMP certification, Kingstom put them through extensive tests that were run on Asus P8P67 PRO and Gigabyte GA-P67-UD4 motherboards.

Extreme Memory Profile, or XMP for short, is an SPD extension developed by Intel for DDR3 DIMMs to encode high performance memory timings.

This basically means that users who don't want to spend their time optimizing memory frequencies and timings can simply go into motherboard's BIOS and select one of the XMP profiles saved by the manufacturer to run the kit at its full speed.

“The new 8GB HyperX memory kits were designed to push the memory boundaries of the new P67 motherboards in both speed and capacity,” said Mark Tekunoff, senior technology manager, Kingston.

“Our 2133MHz T1 modules featuring the signature tall heatspreaders passed the rigorous testing requirements both in-house and at Intel to achieve XMP certification.

This is the perfect kit for enthusiasts who want to maximize performance from the new Sandy Bridge platform,” concluded the company's rep.

Available immediately, the 2133MHz 8GB kit has a suggested price of $299.99 and, as all HyperX products, is backed by a lifetime warranty and free 24/7 technical support.
