Since the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show is now underway, Kingston decided it was finally time to release its newest memory products, namely the HyperX Genesis Special Edition Grey.

Kingston's HyperX brand has been in existence for years and, recently, it even started to incorporate solid state drives.

Nevertheless, it is still, primarily, represented by memory modules and kits, most of them bearing the reasonably well-known blue HyperX heatspreaders.

Now, however, the company decided to try a change of flavor by means of the HyperX Genesis Special Edition Grey.

As the name implies, instead of blue, the heatsinks are colored grey, black and grey in fact, in order to go well with new motherboards based on Intel's P67 chipset, the one that supports Sandy Bridge Core i3/i5/i7 processors.

There is the KHX2133C9AD3X2K2/4GX, which has a capacity of 4 GB and a frequency of 2,133 MHz, while the latency is of CL9-11-9-27 and the price of $149.99.

The other member of the series is dubbed KHX1600C9D3X2K2/4GX, has the same capacity, a clock speed of 1,600 MHz, latency of CL9-9-9-27 and a price of $69.99.

Both kits are composed of two XMP-ready modules (XMP X2 Grey Series) that work on a current of 1.65 V.

“The modern design and look accentuates the new black and grey P67 motherboards just reaching the market,” said Mark Tekunoff, senior technology manager, Kingston.

“With performance memory frequency initially at 2133MHz and 1600MHz, these new additions to the family of HyperX products meet the demands of everyone from the enthusiast vying for the fastest benchmark score to the weekend gamer.”

Both newcomers, like all other members of the HyperX memory line, are accompanied by a lifetime warranty.

What remains to be seen is how quick enthusiasts are at setting up systems equipped with them and getting to work on breaking existing overclocking records.
