Kingston Technology, one of the world's leading vendors of high-performance memory and Flash-based storage solutions, announced today the expansion of its line of SSDNow solid state drives, with the addition of its second-generation SSDNow V+ series. Designed to provide consumers with a boost of both speed and storage, the new drives also represent the first drives to add Windows 7 TRIM support to the company's SSD family. This feature will enable users to take advantage of the same drive performance throughout its life span.

"The new SSDNow V+ is an ideal solid-state drive for high-level consumers and in corporate environments where efficiency and performance are important as more system resources are in use," said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston®. "Users will be more productive as the drive now features TRIM support, is available in higher capacities and is speedier overall with improved read/write speeds."

Building on the company's experience in the SSD sector, the new generation of drives promises better performance, increased capacity and new features. According to the technical sheet of the new series, the outfit's latest offering will provide users with a drive that can deliver sequential speed of 230MB/s read and 180MB/s write, a 10MB/s increase over the company's previous generation. However, the new series offers a wider range of storage capacities, now including a 512GB model. In addition, Kingston's SSDNow V+ solid state drives will include Windows 7 TRIM support.

SSDs are Kingston's main focus in 2010, with the company having invested a considerable effort in marketing the new segment, providing consumers with a choice for a full upgrade solution. It is Kingston's belief that, at this time, considering the price/performance ratio, SSDs should be considered as a performance upgrade, an ideal choice for those looking to boost their system's boot speed and application startup.

Currently, the new generation of SSDNow V+ series follows the same market strategy, to provide consumers with a choice for different capacities, or packages. As far as pricing is concerned, the new SSDs will be available in 2.5-inch form factor, ranging from 64GB to 512GB, for an MSRP of US$268 to US$1,969. The company also offers a choice for a complete bundle, which will enable users to use the drive both as a desktop or notebook-ready solution. These drives will be available with a price range of US$283 to US$1985, just over the price of their standard model.
