At least, this is what rumors suggest will happen this year

Kingston didn't officially say this yet, but rumors are roaming around that it will cut the prices of all its products made out of NAND Flash chips.

That is to say, all Kingston USB flash drives, solid state drives (SSDs) and memory cards will end up cheaper by the end of the year (2012).

Digitimes is the source of the report.

The company intends to reduce prices by 15% as part of its tactic for securing a larger part of the NAND Flash market.

It also chose this price cut as a means to coordinate the shift of chip suppliers to more advanced manufacturing process technologies, like 2Xnm and 19nm.

There is still the oversupply problem to consider, though, and how the jump to better technologies (and subsequent production boost) will only make it worse.
