Kingston has long been a maker of NAND Flash-based storage solutions, and it looks like this instance is one where its skills got put to use in the fashioning of a new series of USB 3.0 flash drives.

Since every company on the IT market is always working on some new device or another, it was not surprising to learn that Kingston developed a new flash drive line.

Also, since the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard is more or less becoming mainstream, it was not surprising to hear that the new series of devices from Kingston supported it.

Indeed, what the outfit developed is the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G2 flash drive line, composed of three member with capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB, respectively.

All of them can read and write data at up to 100 MB/s and 70 MB/s, respectively, although the rates will be limited to about 30 MB/s when plugged into an USB 2.0 port.

That said, the newcomers have a white and silver shell measuring 2.90 x 0.87 x 0.63 inches (73.70 mm x 22.20 mm x 16.10 mm). Said case is made durable and has a solid lanyard loop.

“Kingston is committed to help drive market adoption of the new USB 3.0 standard and make it more accessible to the mass market,” said Andrew Ewing, Flash memory business manager, Kingston.

“The growing number of platforms and computers supporting the USB 3.0 standard as well as the benefits of the single chip controllers that allow better compatibility and performance are helping drive the adoption of USB 3.0 technology.”

The official press release says that all three newcomer are available, or at least will soon be listed, with prices of $77, $116 and $213 for the aforementioned 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB capacities, respectively.

All of them are backed by a warranty of five years and, overall, qualify as “Kingston’s fastest USB Flash drive[s]” to date.
