Since flash drives are all very small and light nowadays, it takes special effort to make one stand out from all the rest. And we mean that it takes more than a big and bad press release to do it. Sure, makers of storage devices manage to get the world to glance in the direction of whatever they announce in their press releases, but that doesn't last if there is nothing genuinely impressive about the USB sticks.

It also doesn't help that cramming 32 GB and even 64 GB of storage capacity into something with a size comparable to a fingernail isn't that strange anymore.

Kingmax didn't want to be defeated by the speed of technological advancement, however, which is why it made the PI-03 more impressive than usual.

Not only is the flash drive very, very small, but it is also waterproof and dustproof thanks to unique PIP technology.

“The PI-03 is a fascinating flash drive that combines function and style,” the company says in its announcement.

The water and dust protection makes sure owners don't have to worry when they're caught out in the rain, or assaulted by a cloud of dust kicked up by a car or gale.

What's more, it is very suitable for notebooks, tablets and other electronic devices with USB connectors.

After all, it only measures 21 x 14.5 x 7 mm (0.82 x 0.57 x 0.27 inches) and weighs 2.5 grams. As light as a feather, as it were. The size of a keyboard key.

“The innovation of KINGMAX PIP technology making PI-03 is both waterproof and dustproof, which is able to protect data from loss, and giving peace of mind even if the flash drive is hung on a key chain, wallet or briefcase,” said Kingmax.

The storage capacities that buyers will be able to choose from are 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. The only downside is that only the USB 2.0 technology is supported, so the transfer speed is limited to 480 Mbps.
