14 DAY TRIAL // Using “The Return of the King” theme as the means to indirectly declare its ambition to continually innovate the memory industry, Kingmax released a series of Golden Tiger USB flash drives meant to represent courage and majesty along with good luck, according to the symbolic meaning held by the golden tiger in most far-eastern cultures. The flash drives come in two types, namely the “Junior Tiger” edition and the “King Tiger” edition. Both of them, like all of the products released by Kingmax, are CE (EU)- and FCC (US)-certified and, according to the RoHS directive, they went through the PFOS/PFOA tests in order to make sure that no hazardous materials were used in their construction.
The Junior Tiger edition is the Golden Tiger incarnation of Kingmax' Super Stick mini USB flash drive, which utilizes the company's exclusive packaging technology, making it dust-proof, water-proof, pressure-resistant and capable of withstanding both high and low temperatures, ranging from above 100ºC to -40ºC. Like the reference Super Stick Mini, the Junior Tiger supports Windows Vista Ready Boost and is fully compatible with Windows 7 as well (it passed the Windows 7 certification).
The drive is colored white, has a USB 2.0 standard data-transfer rate and has true plug and play (requires no external power). The actual size is of 31.5mm x 12.4mm x 2.2mm and the storage capabilities are of 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB.
The King Tiger edition is based on the PD-07 flash drive. Like the Junior Tiger, it passed all the aforementioned tests and has similar USB 2.0 standard data-transfer capabilities, but it has certain design differences that make it stand out. The King Tiger comes in snow-white and ink-black colors and is more massive, measuring 62mm x 18mm x 9.2mm. Being about twice as large compared with its sibling enables the King Tiger to come in not just the storage capacities of 2-16GB, but also with 32GB of storage space.
