Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a very ambitions game that wants to link very different genres and experiences, but some have expressed doubts about the use of a first-person view for such a complex title.

Director Daniel Vavra, who leads work on the project for Warhorse Studios, tells Rock, Paper, Shotgun that, “I know that some people have a problem with first-person view here, but I think we get much better immersion. At this point, we don’t plan to have third-person. However, if there are very large protests from people, we may change our mind.”

The game is currently seeking backing on Kickstarter from fans and wants to raise enough money to make sure that a big outside investor is convinced of the quality of the experience and will also back the project.

This means that the team at Warhorse will have to listen to the requests that come from the community, while trying to create a game experience that’s as close as possible to their original vision.

Vavra says that the team has big plans for camera placement and will use the main character’s hands and feet in order to create a better sense of immersion in the world.

The director is also defending the choice to launch Kingdom Come: Deliverance via the Steam Early Access service.

He says, “we already built the location that should be in this module, and I think it will spoil the visuals of the area but nothing else. It will be more about seeing stuff, controls, doing basic core mechanics. There will only be one quest. We just need to find out if everything works.”

The team promises that just a small part of the story will be revealed and that those who like it will be more than willing to wait for the full game to be launched to explore it all.
