1C Company and Katauri Interactive have just announced a standalone expansion to King's Bounty: Armored Princess. It is entitled King's Bounty: Crossworlds and will feature two new campaigns as well as a map editor, a feature that was requested by many of the series' fans. The Princess will return as a main character and will have her tamed dragon by her side, a creature that will become a powerful ally throughout the course of the game.

Champion of the Arena is one of the two new campaigns and will feature a gladiatorial tournament consisting of various boss battles. The other one is called Defender of the Crown and it will be composed of battles in unique tactical arenas with random enemies. The story from Armored Princess is going to be continued with a collection of new quests entitled Orcs on the March.

One of the new additions is a flying steed that will help the Princess navigate the game's environment and defeat the orc hordes attacking the kingdom. Her dragon companion will evolve from simple attacks at the start of this new installment and will finish by getting the ability to breathe fire and summon volcanoes. There are no details at this moment about the game editor other than the fact that it will give users the ability to create whole campaigns.

King's Bounty is a series that combines turn-based strategy with role-playing adventuring. Players explore maps, communicate with other characters in real time using their hero and engage in turn-based tactical combat utilizing the creatures and loot they gather and the spells and abilities they get as they reach new levels of experience. Katauri's versions are remakes of a game from 1990 that invented this type of strategy and that inspired the venerable Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. This new expansion is set to arrive in the third quarter of 2010.
