Video game publisher Microsoft and developer Frontier Developments have announced that their Kinectimals titles will be getting access to bears during the fall of this year, along with a new area to explore.

The new game will be actually called Kinectimals Now with Bears and will lure players to a new uncharted island off the coast of Lemuria, with a new guide called Bumblina.

The plot of the game is linked to a famous pirate called Captain Blackwood and to a mysterious device that is buried somewhere on the island, which can only be found with the aid of the new bear cub.

There are five races of bears for the player to adopt: the black, grizzly, cinnamon, glacier and polar bears.

The game also comes complete with all the content of the original Kinectimals game, including the lion, tiger, leopard, panther and cheetah, 10 unlockable creatures and quests like Legend of Felis Aurum and the Fiddler’s Quest.

At the same time as Kinectimals Now with Bears launches, fans of the concept will be able to get plush creatures in toy stores, including a white tiger, a polar bear and a Bornean clouded leopard.

The Bear Island content will be offered on the Xbox Live Arcade service for those who already have the original game.

Kinectimals was one of the titles that Microsoft created specifically in order to use the Kinect motion tracking system and it has been one of the more successful titles made for it.

Since launching during November 2010 Kinect has managed to sell more than 10 million units and has pushed the Xbox 360 home console to the top of the NDP Group made hardware chart for the United States market.

Microsoft is also saying that more than 10 million pieces of software for Kinect have been sold.
