14 DAY TRIAL // The Kindle application for iPad is now available in all countries where it is officially sold, Amazon has announced. Much like the iBooks application Apple offers, Amazon’s Kindle app allows users to select from numerous books available in the Kindle Store. Additionally, the app features the Amazon Whispersync technology that saves and synchronizes customers’ last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights across their supported devices.
“We’re thrilled to make Kindle for iPad available to readers around the world,” Jay Marine, director, Amazon Kindle, said. “Kindle for iPad includes all the features customers love about Kindle for iPhone, including great selection and synchronization of their books across a variety of Kindle apps, along with a beautiful new user interface tailored to the look and feel of iPad. Kindle for iPad is the perfect companion for the millions of customers who already own a Kindle or Kindle DX, and a way for customers to download and enjoy books even if they don’t yet have a Kindle.”
According to Amazon, there are currently 550,000 books available in the Kindle Store, including new releases and bestsellers. Titles found in the latter category cost $11.99 (USD) or less in the Kindle Store. The company mentions key features of the Kindle app, like the ability to automatically sync with other Kindle-compatible devices, the intuitive user interface, which can also be customized, page-turn animation (also an UI element), and more.
In December 2009, Amazon announced that Kindle for iPhone and iPod touch had become available in more than 60 additional countries from the iTunes App Store. The application works pretty much the same across the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Use the link below to download the iPad-supported version 2.0.1 of the application now.
