It was a bigger controversy than Obama's health-care reform, which is, in itself, a clear indication of where the nation's values lie, but that's a different kettle of fish. We are here to discuss today the fact that Kim Kardashian and her Vogue cover proved everyone wrong and smashed previous sales records.

TooFab confirms that this particular Vogue edition that famously and controversially featured Kim Kardashian and her groom-to-be Kanye West on the cover went on to sell over half a million copies on newsstands and is now in the process of fulfilling orders to restock the shelves at many that have since run out.

For those that are not schooled in the ways of current printed media, let us spell it out for you: ordering for a resupply for a magazine is something that rarely happens, sort of like your chances of seeing a white unicorn on your daily commute to work, prancing around on the highway.

These sales are also bolstered by subscription sales and, at the moment, the final tally in magazines sold is being estimated at over 1.2 million copies. These figures smash previous sales record for two other popular magazine editions, the one that had Beyonce on the cover, and the one featuring Michelle Obama.

It really does look like the world can't get enough of Kim Kardashian and her life story. Of course, one could argue that Kim herself has been boosting up those figures, since she has been spotted last week clearing out entire shelves at newsstands, buying up Vogue by the armful and also getting her younger sister to carry another armload.

These sales figures contradict all the detractors that spoke vehemently against Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and blasted her for giving in and putting Kim on the cover. You see, for a long time it was known that Wintour and Kanye were good friends as she admired his work, and Kanye kept pestering her to put Kim on the cover, since he knew how much it mean to her.

When the announcement came out that Kim finally made the cover, people were mad that Wintour had made such a flagrant mistake and featured in Vogue, widely considered to be the fashion Bible, a woman that is often being criticized from her eyebrow-raising ensembles.

Even several celebrities got in on the act and spoke out against this decision, including actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, who famously announced that she would be canceling her Vogue subscription and advised others to do the same as a sign of protest.

It looks now that she and all the other people who said they were “disgusted” at the time will have to eat their own words and accept the fact that Kim is more fascinating than politics, current events, and that her wedding is probably going to be the biggest event of the year.
