Even if it’s not something she often talks about, Kim Kardashian was married once already. Back in 2000, she and music producer Damon Thomas, eloped – and were divorced 4 years later. The latest issue of Star magazine has just now gotten a hold on the divorce court papers, and they paint a truly horrible picture of the kind of emotional and physical abuse the star suffered at the hands of her spouse (story via here).

Admittedly, Thomas was nothing short of a brute who would regularly take pleasure in humiliating his wife, which eventually forced her to break the cycle of suffering and seek a divorce. She’s still recovering from that experience though, the tabloid implies, describing her divorce a “hell,” just like her marriage also was. Aside from knocking her around whenever he had the chance, Thomas also forced Kim to get lipo to improve her looks, it is being said.

“In newly uncovered court documents obtained by Star, Kim claims her husband of four years […] flew into jealous rages, punched her, threatened her life and instructed her to get plastic surgery to improve her body. One terrible incident Kim recalls occurred the day they were supposed to be taking a fun trip skydiving with Justin Timberlake. ‘Before we left our home, Damon hit me in the face and cut my lip open,’ Kim claims. ‘I fell into the bed frame and banged my knee hard. I was limping when we went skydiving’,” Star writes.

Jezebel has more details on the story that will appear in Star, and it goes something like this: “In the papers Kim describes how Damon made her ask permission when she wanted to leave their house, wanted her home at 4:30 to cook him dinner, and gave her money ‘for liposuction that Damon suggested I have because he wanted me to be perfect.’ The article describes in detail physical abuse Kim claims she suffered, including being punched in the face on multiple occasions, strangling her, and threatening to kill her and her family.”

To point out the obvious, Star is not exactly among those publications that get maximum scores for publicity, since gossip is the main dish it serves, just like many other glossy publications. However, this is not an “unnamed source” that’s spilling the beans on some soap opera-ish story, this is Kim herself it’s quoting, admittedly from court papers and not hearsay. Keep an eye on this space for developments on this.
