She says only “uneducated” people would say that her reality show is not important or not enough for her to be famous

Kim Kardashian says being a reality star is more than meets the eye, an actual career in new interview

Kim Kardashian is featured in the latest issue of Love Magazine, with her most revealing photospread to date (and that’s saying a lot, all things considered) and an interview that sees her at her most defensive. Among the topics up for discussion: her claim to fame, her career and how irksome she finds “uneducated” people who know nothing of either.

Perhaps the fact that the interview was conducted by model Cara Delevingne, who is a good friend of Kim’s sister Kylie, helped Kim loosen up a bit and thus deliver priceless soundbites.

Leaked tape didn’t make Kim’s career

Before Kim Kardashian was the insanely successful reality star and business woman she is today, she was the girl who hung out with Paris Hilton and was told over and over again to clean up her closet. She was then “promoted” to BFF (best friend forever), until this didn’t suit Paris anymore and she was eliminated from the picture.

By that time though, Kim had already made herself noticed and the “leak” of her home-made adult tape with Ray J helped to turn her into a household name. Ironically, in making and leaking her own tape, Kim ripped a page out of Paris’ manual of staying relevant.

Unlike Paris though, she managed to spin that into a surprisingly successful career: the tape got her her reality show and that soon made room for DASH stores and paid endorsements. Today, Kim is wife to rapper Kanye West, mother to North West and, in Kanye’s words, the most flawless woman on the planet, a “modern Marilyn Monroe.”

But she didn’t achieve all that by releasing said tape, she insists.

“Maybe that’s how some people heard about me but I didn’t launch my career off of that. That was 12 years ago, no 13 years ago now, so I just try to move on and put it in the past because I think that everyone in life does things they’re not proud of but you can’t sit and dwell on them forever,” she says, as cited by Us Weekly.

“Uneducated” people think she doesn’t work

One of the things that Kim is always very defensive about is how people perceive not just her claim to fame but her career. In her mind, it’s not fair to say that she doesn’t deserve to be famous just because she’s a reality star, and she’s even compared that to how hip hop got started, and how no one would give rappers any credit because they said that what they were doing wasn’t “music.”

Clearly, Kim doesn’t want to be considered a no-talent woman, because, as she once put it, she’s more talented than actors and singers because she can stay relevant in today’s ever-changing scenery just by being herself. She compared herself to a juggling bear: the bear is obviously talented, but it’s not famous.

So, to those bashing her, thinking that being a reality star is a negative thing because it doesn’t amount to anything, she has this to say: stop being so uneducated. She gives jobs to “so many people” with her reality show, and they are thankful to her because she puts a roof over their head.

If that’s not enough of an argument, there’s also this piece of Kardashian wisdom to consider: “When someone asks me, ‘What do you do?’ under my breath I want to say, ‘Ask my [expletive]-king bank account what I do.’ But I would never say that to someone’s face.”
