14 DAY TRIAL // Kim Kardashian is the queen of the Internet, with 22.4 million followers on Twitter and 16.6 million on Instagram, and their numbers are rising by the day. Don’t imagine that she got them by just posting relevant stuff every once in a while: Kim Kardashian posts more selfies than we can count and definitely more than most celebrities out there.
That’s because, unlike most celebrities out there (reality stars are the exception), she has nothing else to sell but herself, the Kim Kardashian brand that she’s worked “so hard” to build. Also part of the work is taking countless selfies every day and sharing them with her fans.
A newly released deleted scene from the current season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which documents the family’s trip to Thailand from earlier this year, reveals that, during said trip, Kim took no less than 1,200 selfies.
You might imagine that this wouldn’t take this long, seeing how you could do a lot of those selfies in just one “sitting” but consider this: Kim doesn’t see the point of taking more selfies unless she’s wearing something different, has different makeup and styling, and even a different background.
That, friends, takes a lot of time and preparation.
Take for instance the video below. Kim is sitting by the pool (with a full face of makeup, no less), talking on the phone with Kanye, who could not be there with her and their daughter North because of work. She promises him she’s working on a photo album for the entire journey, which he will receive when she gets back home.
Next up, she walks into a room adjacent to the pool, where her mother and manager is sorting through a jewelry box. “Oooh, I have not done a selfie in this glam room,” Kim exclaims and rushes to press herself against a wall to take a handful of selfies.
Even Kris seems taken aback by how vain her daughter is, even though she’s no stranger either to selfies.
“How many selfies are you going to do in one day? You're like obsessed,” Kris asks. “I need 1,200,” Kim replies. “This is a great background.”
She refuses Kris’ offer of letting her take a picture, takes off her kaftan to reveal a black two-piece swimsuit, and proceeds to take the selfies.
Fans of her reality show probably know that Kim is a firm believer into sticking by a set of “rules” to take the perfect selfie: the camera must always be positioned higher, with the phone tilted a bit to create the impression you’re thinner than in real life. She invariably poses the same way: her cheeks sucked in, pouty lips, and a blank stare. This time though, she opted for looking away from the camera.
