In an unusual turn, Kim Kardashian has left the spotlight for a brief moment so that she could get serious for a little while. The reality star thought long and hard and decided to write an essay on two very important problems in our current society: racism and discrimination.

The resulting text was then published on her website where people can go and read her words of wisdom. As you'd expect, Kim is against racism and discrimination and wants to you know that she's very much against those bad things that are like a plague in our society.

She claims that she's more aware of the issues now that she's a mother, “To be honest, before I had North, I never really gave racism or discrimination a lot of thought. It is obviously a topic that Kanye is passionate about, but I guess it was easier for me to believe that it was someone else's battle.”

Kim concludes that “I realize that racism and discrimination are still alive, and just as hateful and deadly as they ever have been.” She's keen to state her position as she thinks that this will help people fight against this social stigma.

“I feel a responsibility as a mother, a public figure, a human being, to do what I can to make sure that not only my child, but all children, don’t have to grow up in a world where they are judged by the color of their skin, or their gender, or their sexual orientation. I want my daughter growing up in a world where love for one another is the most important thing,” Kim says in her essay.

The reality star has met herself some issues regarding racism and discrimination in her career in the spotlight. One need only remember the altercation with a random stranger on the street that called her a “[n-word] lover” and threatened to kill her before Kanye stepped in and beat the hell out of the guy, only to settle out of court later for a respectable sum of money.

Also, there was that incident earlier this year at the Vienna Opera Ball when she was forced to leave early because of a prankster who thought it would be funny to appear in a black face and make racial jokes.

“It is our responsibility to give them a voice and speak out for those who can't and hopefully in the process, ensure that hate is something our children never have to see,” Kim concluded her essay.
