They already have the Eiffel Tower rented for the ceremony

On May 24, 2014, following a weekend in Paris, including a fancy rehearsal dinner at the Palace of Versailles, reality star Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West were married in Florence, Italy. Theirs was meant to be the “wedding of the year,” the US equivalent of the royal wedding in the UK of 2011.

In reality, as far as wedding guests goes, the ceremony was pretty D-list, but it still became one of the most talked about events of the year. With the date of their first wedding anniversary drawing near, they’re now planning a do-over.

This time, it will happen in Paris.

The Eiffel Tower is already rented out

Kim and Kanye like to call Paris their second home, or their home away from home. Kanye in particular spends a lot of time there: he even has an apartment with a recording studio, which allows him to be away from LA for longer stretches, working all the time.

Kim, on the other hand, loves Paris for the fashion and the luxury.

Both were desperate to tie the knot in Paris and even tried to get Versailles to host the ceremony, but were disappointed to learn they could not rent it for it. In the end, they settled for the Italian castle in Florence.

They’re planning on making up for it with their first wedding anniversary: sources tell Us Weekly that they have the Eiffel Tower rented for the ceremony that will also see them renew their vows.

Obviously, it will be a comparatively smaller ceremony, but it will be glamorous nonetheless. And Kanye is sparing no expense to make the love of his life feel like a princess all over again.

“The lavish 58 Tour Eiffel restaurant has also been booked for a private event. The ceremony will take place following the pair's appearance at the Cannes Film Festival,” the report says.

Third time is a charm, after all

This is Kim Kardashian’s third marriage and Kanye’s first. Because of her previous two attempts at married life, many thought that this one won’t last either.

Kim divorced her first husband amidst claims of spousal abuse on his part, and her second one after only 72 days, while he tried to get an annulment on the basis of fraud.

Kim didn’t even bother to let Kris Humphries know that she’d be divorcing him: she filed the papers and he found out about it in the media, just like everybody else.

However, that wasn’t before she managed to make a fortune off the wedding. Everything of the relationship, from the proposal to the engagement party and the actual wedding ceremony, was shown on the family’s E! reality show, with reports saying she pocketed over $18 million (€15.7 million) for the whole affair.

Because he had signed an iron-clad prenup, Humphries didn’t see a dime, which is why he asked for the annulment. Had he obtained it, the prenup would have been voided, so he would have gotten half of the money Kim made during their time together.
