14 DAY TRIAL // 2014 wasn’t just the year of the bubble derriere, it was also the year of Kim Kardashian, no doubt about that. The once much-ridiculed reality star became an A-lister in 2014 and cemented her reputation as one of the most mediated celebrities in showbiz. She also nearly broke the Internet with the most outrageous and talked-about magazine cover of the year, for Paper mag.
It looks like she will continue to dominate headlines and get people to talk about her in 2015 as well. Kim has kicked off the new year with yet another magazine cover, and this one too is getting a lot of attention, especially on social media.
Kim is unrecognizable, tall
For those of you who don’t know how Kim Kardashian looks in real life, the photo attached to this article should provide enough clues: Kim is short and curvy, and has the opposite of a model figure, something of which she used to be proud until now.
The Instagram shot below is the cover of the upcoming issue of Love magazine, on which Kim looks just like a model: she’s tall and lanky, and Photoshoppped into oblivion in the face. She also seems to have darker skin.
From the caption to the photo, we understand that this is the shoot for which Kim bleached her eyebrows – and apparently, the spread will include over 30 pages of photos of her. So this cover pic is just the beginning.
“Working with @stevenkleinstudio was so crazy for me! We shot for 3 days straight at a motel in LA. One night til 4am. @kegrand dressed me in all vintage and custom @Prada,” she also says.
Kim is becoming high fashion
Since the early months of her romance with now-husband Kanye West, it became clear that Kim Kardashian was eager to ditch her reality TV queen image and emerge as something else, something more: she wanted to become a fashion icon.
It all started with a much-derided scene on her family reality show, the E!-produced Keeping Up with the Kardashians, in which Kanye raided her walk-in closet and tossed old shoes and designer clothes, replacing them with the kind of stuff she wears today: everything in muted colors and strict cuts, designs that hug every curve on her body.
In 2014, Kim’s ascension to fashion icon became clear: she landed on the cover of the US Vogue, something Anna Wintour, famed Editor-in-Chief, had promised would never happen. She also landed several endorsement deals, including with Balmain – together with husband Kanye, of course.
Here she is now on the cover of Love, a famous and forward fashion magazine, in a spread that is rumored to include model Cara Delevingne as well, none other than Karl Lagerfeld’s newest muse.
Chances are 2015 will be the year when Kim completes the transition from reality star / former adult star of her own “leaked” movie to bona fide fashion icon.
