Developer Guerrilla Games has published a brand-new trailer, stressing on the importance of teamwork in Killzone: Shadow Fall – Intercept, showed during Sony's press conference event during this year's edition of the E3 convention.

Killzone: Shadow Fall was released in November last year, as one of the games in the launch line-up for Sony's PlayStation 4, the next-gen computer entertainment system.

The game was praised by both fans and critics for the great first-person shooter experience it offered, based on a new and controversial story taking place in the franchise's universe. The game also featured a competitive multiplayer mode, revolving around warzones created by players.

Killzone: Shadow Fall – Intercept is the upcoming co-op DLC pack for the PlayStation 4, and it offers Killzone players the chance to play the game in four different roles: Assault, Marksman, Medic and Tactician.

The trailer features some fast-paced action sequences, showing the team working like a well-oiled piece of machinery, each of the four players utilizing his particular class skills to the team's advantage, including propping up a shield in order to protect allies from enemy fire, the obligatory healing of a downed comrade and the not-so-mundane and maybe even completely awesome Tactician providing his team with jetpacks.

In Intercept, players will be tasked with defending some Hacking Uplink stations against waves of Helghast troops. Gamers will become part of an elite VSA team known as Intelligence Squad Alpha, and will operate behind enemy lines, intercepting Helghast military transmissions and relaying them back to base.

"Just like the members of Intelligence Squad Alpha, the AI-controlled Helghast enemies in Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept have their own sets of goals and Combat Roles. They will switch up tactics and angles of attack when they capture an Uplink, so you'll need to adapt your defense strategy accordingly," the studio says in a press release.

The DLC will offer four different arena maps for players to test their synchronization skills on, all of them inspired by locations from the single-player campaign. The main team mechanic will revolve around players working together in order to raise the Team Score, which affects how close they are to establishing a Hacking Uplink. Losing uplinks and dying will lower the Team Score, which can result in failure if left unmitigated.

Killzone: Shadow Fall – Intercept will bring online co-op action to the PS4 exclusive game starting June 24, as a DLC add-on (that is free with the Killzone Season Pass), and will also be launched as a standalone edition on August 5, 2014.
