The development team at Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony are ready to offer more details on the upcoming The Insurgent downloadable content pack of the game, which is designed to expand the multiplayer side of the title in significant ways.

The official description posted by the two companies on the PlayStation Blog explains that "The Helghast government has been secretly funding The Black Hand, the operatives of which have been infiltrating Vekta City. The VSA has also started a programme that sends saboteurs disguised as refugees to the Helghast side of the wall."

The biggest addition is the new Insurgent class, which comes complete with two new abilities: Steal, designed to allow him to take weapons from fallen enemies and use them even after he is killed, and Hack, giving him the ability to turn all ground automatons to his side and change the course of any engagement.

The already well known Scout, Support and Assault classes in Killzone: Shadow Fall also get new abilities to use on the battlefield: E-Pulse emitter – deliver a beacon that emits a pulse that makes it difficult for enemies to install in that area: Tactical Echo emitter – a beacon that emits a Tactical Echo and makes an area hard to infiltrate; The Guard Drone – a stationary Buddy drone that can guart a location from a ground level from all attackers.

Gamers who get The Insurgent can also use three new weapons in Killzone: M82, the classic assault rifle from the second game in the series, L512 SMG Pistol, a punchier side arm, and Sta14 Rifle, designed for long range engagements.

The coming DLC will also add a new Elite Mode for the single-player, with just three lives for gamers to use as they try to beat the game and earn the right to brag to their friends.

There are also more rewards for gamers to collect if they manage to get access to special crates and they can also use new personalization packs in order to make their warriors unique.

The Insurgent pack is currently set to launch at some point in April and will cost interested players 9.99 dollars or Euro, offered for free to all those who have purchased the Season Pass.

Until then, gamers can play new maps in the multiplayer of Killzone: Shadow Fall, with the first two inspired by locations from the single-player campaign, named the Cruiser and the Hangar.
