Guerrilla Games, the developer of the recent Killzone 3 first-person shooter, has just deployed a new downloadable content pack for the game, called Steel Rain, which is now available on the European PlayStation Store and will appear next week in the North American one.

Guerrilla Games has really focused on improving the Killzone 3 experience lately, and already deployed patch 1.07 for the game yesterday.

Now, the Dutch studio has revealed that the Steel Rain DLC map pack, which was announced back in February, is now available for download from the European PlayStation Store and will be making its way onto the North American one next week.

"Steel Rain consists of two explosive new multiplayer maps inspired by locations from the single player campaign: Junkyard, a Guerrilla Warfare map which sees Jetpacks and Exoskeletons clashing in a rain-drenched junk processing facility; and Stahl Arms, a uniquely styled Warzone map set on the factory floor of one of Helghan’s largest weapons manufacturing plants," Guerrilla's Victor Zuylen posted on the game's official blog.

The Steel Rain DLC map pack for Killzone 3 will cost €4,99 for regular PlayStation Network members, while PlayStation Plus subscribers can get it for free during the first month after its release.

On April 12, North American PlayStation 3 owners will be able to buy the Steel Rain DLC for Killzone 3 for $4.99.

Guerrilla Games has also released a special video in honor of the DLC, showcasing the special features of the two maps.

Even if both levels practically rehash the environments used in Killzone 3's single-player campaign, Guerrilla is adamant that the addition of things like Jetpacks and exoskeletons will attract plenty of players and make them purchase the new Steel Rain DLC.
