A new messaging service is now available for devices coming from Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion, namely Kik.

The Kik Messenger arrived on BlackBerry devices with appealing features, and can be downloaded and installed on any devices that are based on BlackBerry OS 4.6.0 or higher.

“Yes my friends, today is the day! We just released a new version of Kik Messenger that can be run on BlackBerry devices,” the company has just announced.

One thing that should be mentioned right from the start, however, is that BlackBerry users won't find Kik in the BlackBerry App World. However, they can grab it from Kik's website, or from Softpedia. here.

“Get it right now by going to www.kik.com on your BlackBerry. It’s only available on our website – you won’t find it in the AppWorld,” the company notes.

The new flavor of Kik arrives on BlackBerry devices with increased performance levels, and with enhanced reliability, so as to offer a great experience to RIM's customers, the same as it would on other platforms out there.

Some of the main features that the new app arrives on BlackBerry with include:

- Hands-down the fastest, most life-like chat experience for your smartphone - Instant notifications show you when a message is Sent, Delivered, Read - Picture Sharing - privately share moments as they happen or from your gallery - Group Chat - create groups on the go simply by adding friends to conversations - Completely free – no messaging fees and no ads - Beautiful look and feel, offline messages, push notifications, and more!

This is one of the best cross-platform messenger applications that can be downloaded on BlackBerry smartphones today, the development team notes.

“Thank you to all the BlackBerry users — and Kiksters with friends on BlackBerry — who have patiently waited for this day over the last 10 months. We’re thrilled to welcome you back into the Kik family and hope you love the new Kik as much as we do,” Kik concludes.

Kik for BlackBerry can be easily downloaded from Softpedia via this link.
