Jack Bauer, the CIA agent portrayed in the Fox series “24,” was one tough cookie. Kiefer Sutherland, the actor portraying the secret agent, isn't as tough. The actor is terribly anxious about his return to the small screen.

The network has green-lighted a remake of the classic action series called “24: Live Another Day” which sees Sutherland return as Jack Bauer. In an interview for the Television Critics Association quoted by the Daily Mail, the actor confessed he was “terrified.”

“I won't lie to you. Until we start shooting, I'm about as anxious and wound up as I've been in a long time,” Sutherland confessed. “I'm very nervous. Without patting ourselves on the back too hard, we made eight very strong years. We always would look back every season and wish something had been better, but I was very proud.”

The plot picks up four years after the first series ended, with Jack Bauer as a fugitive, being chased by CIA agent Kate Morgan, played by Yvonne Strahovski. The only difference will be that instead of the usual 24 episodes per season, there will only be 12 this time around.

“24: Live Another Day” is set to premiere on May 5 on Fox.
