White box kid tablets will be affected by Sammy's offering

Samsung has recently put out a child-friendly slate, called the Galaxy Tab 3.7.0 Kids. Interestingly enough, with this model if parents choose to remove the protective orange bumper, they can enjoy the functions of a regular Android slate, making this a very versatile product.

With this in mind, market watchers reported by DigiTimes believe that the Sammy kiddie slate will impact sales of China white-box vendors which are fighting for survival in the currently saturated market.

White-box vendors are mostly offering child slates with poor specifications in order to be more competitive price-wise. However, Sammy’s product comes at a good price and bundling some pretty decent specs.

The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Kids features a 7-inch display with a 1024 x 600 resolution and 8GB of RAM. The product offers access to a bunch of apps and games especially designed for children. The tablet is currently available for purchase in the US with some retailers selling it for as little as $209 / €154.

With the child device attracting customers, Samsung is expected to see its shipments rise to 36 million tablets by year-end.
