They don't really like that proxy sites put up their own ads

While many rely on proxy servers to access torrent sites, KickassTorrents has decided to block some of these sites after they took some measures that aren’t completely in line with what Kickass wants.

The main reason of concern for KickassTorrents seems to be the fact that proxy sites have replaced the advertising they had in place with their own and managed to get on top of the official domain in Google search results, TorrentFreak reports.

“We have banned some proxies which were replacing ads. The only reason is that we don’t want to lose our traffic because of proxies which are not even showing our ads while they are providing additional load on our servers,” the Kickass operators explained.

“Another reason [for banning proxies] is that for some queries in Google, proxy’s pages were placed even higher than [Kickass' results],” the site says.

Over the past few years the battle against torrents sites has grown considerably and the past few months alone have brought the blocking of numerous popular destinations for those who want to gain access to this type of content.

In order to get past this issue, many proxy sites have been created to offer users a way to get in access their favorite torrent sites without worrying about ISP restrictions.

Proxy operators display advertising on their services, often replacing ads put in place by the original domains.

Now that KickassTorrents wants to shut down several proxy sites, the operators of these domains claim that their ads don’t actually work and they’d display them if they did.

One admin in particular states that he expressly got the nod from KAT to include one of this own banners in order to support server costs. It is unknown if KickassTorrents will target these sites as well or only those who have neglected getting in touch with them.
