“It opens up discussion more than any movie,” actor says

Kevin Sorbo will always be, in my book, Hercules, the demi-god who chose to be on man’s side in the never-ending battle against the all-powerful gods. His fans can see him in a new feature film, called “God’s Not Dead,” now running in select US theaters.

A trailer for it is embedded above. It also stars Dean Cain (whom fans might recognize from the “Superman” series) and “Duck Dynasty” stars Willie and Korie Robertson, who are actually playing themselves.

Sorbo plays a philosophy teacher who is determined to prove to one particular student, a Christian (Shane Harper), that there is no God and that, in the classroom, he is the closest thing to a divinity there is.

In real life, though, Sorbo hopes the film will open up the discussion on God and, in so doing, bring non-believers closer to Him, as he tells The Blaze.

“I think it opens up discussion more than any movie. It’s not preaching to the choir… it’s creating a lot of dialogue. Agnostics out there who kind of believe, kind of don’t… these are the independent voters. We want them to come over to the right side,” he says.

Sorbo is a Christian himself and he believes that those who are so vocal about God’s non-existence are in fact afraid at the thought that “there must be something out there,” something they don’t understand, most likely.

Right now, “God’s Not Dead” is playing in about 800 theaters across the US but it’s gotten so many people talking about it that, hopefully for those who didn’t see it yet, it will be picked up for distribution in more locations.
