The unexpected success of the cop-comedy “Ride Along” starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube meant that it was a sure candidate for a sequel. As the movie is still making its rounds in cinemas, there are already plans under way for a second part of the goofball comedy.

Deadline reports that director Tim Story is going to take over the project, Will Packer will produce and Kevin Hart and Ice Cube have already agreed to appear in the sequel to reprise their roles of loudmouth security guard and cold-blooded veteran cop.

The film is set to start production in late June or early July, by which time the script should be completed. There are no details on the plot yet, but the studio is said to be eyeing a more international experience in order to tap into more markets.

Director Tim Story is known for his previous works which include “The Fantastic Four” and its sequel “Rise of the Silver Surfer,” as well as the comedy “Think Like a Man Too” which is going to be released in theaters on June 20.
