14 DAY TRIAL // In what would best be described as a lesson on how to keep your personal life out of the spotlight when you’re an in-demand actress, Kerry Washington has gotten married in secret to her boyfriend of 1 year, Nnamdi Asomugha, it has emerged.
The news marks a double surprise for fans of the actress, who has really become a fan and critics-favorite with her role in “Django Unchained” and the TV series “Scandal”, because they didn’t even know she was seeing someone.
Us Weekly confirms that not only is she in a serious relationship but she actually tied the knot with the guy – San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha – last month.
“Records show that Washington and Asomugha filed a marriage license on June 24 in Blaine County, Idaho, though a source tells Us that the two appear to have gotten married in the town of Hailey, Idaho, with her parents as witnesses,” the celebrity publication writes.
“It has been recorded in the Blaine County clerk’s office that Nnamdi Asomugha and Kerry Washington have been married on the 24th of June in the town of Hailey, Idaho,” the clerk’s office confirms for the magazine.
At the time this got out in the press, neither Kerry nor Nnamdi had made a statement regarding the status of their relationship.
Reports in the press say that they’ve been together for almost a year, having started dating last summer. Before Nnamdi, Kerry was engaged to David Moscow but they went their separate ways in 2007.
“Coming out of an engagement, I don’t even try to guess what my life is going to look like in the future anymore,” she said at the time, as cited by the same media outlet.
“The important thing is to not be afraid of making decisions that are right for me. It’s my life. Not anybody else’s,” she added.
